Rice Breaks School HR Record as Louisville Cruises Past Canfield 11-4

Chandler Rice went 3-for-4 with a 2-Run Homer and an RBI Double to lead the Lady Leopards to an 11-4 win over the Canfield Cardinals Wednesday. The Leps are now 7-1 after the victory.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 advantage early, but the Leopards answered with a 4-run second inning to take control of the contest. Brooke Cox and Amy Hoover each delivered 2-run doubles for Louisville to build the lead. The lead-off hitting Hoover would finish the evening 3-for-4 at the plate.

The Leopards extended their lead in the third inning when Rice smacked a line drive shot over the fence in left field for her first homer of the season. The home run is Rice’s 18th of her career, which now makes her Louisville’s all-time home run leader. She passed Desi Givens who previously held the record with 17.

Gianna Falcone struck out the side in the top of the fourth inning to keep Louisville ahead by four.

Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fourth inning by Katie Cozy and Rice made it 8-2 Leopards. Then later on, Louisville scored 3 more insurance runs in the sixth inning via a 2-run double by Annie Woolf and an RBI Double by Jordan Monnot. 9 of the Leopards 15 hits on the evening were doubles.

The Cardinals scored 2 runs in the seventh, but it was all academic at that point. Leopards Win 11-4.
