Perry Rumbles Past Louisville 12-2
Perry 12, Louisville 2, 5 Innings
After a weather delay, the Perry Panthers scored 8 runs in the third inning propelling them to a 12-2 victory over visiting Louisville Monday. With the loss, the Lady Leopards fall to 10-6 overall.
Louisville’s only scoring came in the top of the third inning when Emily Cantley delivered a 2-run single to right-center. Amy Hoover and Katie Cozy, who singled to start the inning, scored on the play. Cozy also hit a double in the first inning for the only other Leopards hit.
If Louisville had seized any momentum in tying the game at 2-2, it was taken away by the weather. A new OHSAA rule this year is to delay the game 30 minutes at the sound of thunder or the sight of lightning. The Leopards never recovered as they gave up 10 runs over the next two and a half innings and were retired in order at the plate.
With the loss, Louisville is now 0-5 against Federal League teams this season. The Panthers now lead the all-time series 22-7 after a season sweep of the Leopards.
UP NEXT: Louisville will next travel to Minerva to take on the Lions on Tuesday, May 6 at 4:30 PM.
