My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team hosted the Division II Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association State Dual Team Tournament Saturday at Louisville High School.  Louisville finished third in the state, the Aurora Greenmen were state runner-ups, and the St. Paris Graham Falcons were state champions.

The #2 seed Leopards defeated the #7 seed Miami Trace Panthers 42-24 in the state quarterfinals. Louisville then fell to the #3 seed Aurora Greenmen 43-29 in the state semifinals. In the consolation match, the Leopards defeated the #4 seed Ashland Arrows 48-25 to claim third place. In the championship match, St. Paris Graham defeated Aurora 48-22 to claim their 9th dual meet state title in 10 years.


Quarterfinal: #2 Louisville 42, #7 Miami Trace 24

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe #2 seed Louisville Leopards never trailed in their 42-24 victory over the #7 seed Miami Trace Panthers in the OHSWCA State Dual Tournament Quarterfinals. Louisville won 5 of the first 6 bouts to build a 26-3 advantage. Miami Trace closed the gap by taking the next three matches in the middle weight classes to cut their deficit to 26-18. The Leopards claimed 4 of the final 5 matches to advance.

Four Louisville wrestlers won by fall during the quarterfinal dual. They included sophomore Kolten Barker (113), junior Dylan Rhoads (126), senior Pablo Castro (132), and senior Blake Schaffer (190). Junior Dominic Hoffarth (138) also won by technical fall and senior Brenden Severs (165) earned a 10-0 major decision. Other Leopards earning decisions included senior Lacy Harvey (106), senior Noah Peterson (175), and senior Cameron Brazek (285).

Semifinal: #3 Aurora 43, #2 Louisville 29

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe #2 seed Louisville Leopards fell behind early and were unable to catch the #3 seed Aurora Greenmen in their 43-29 OHSWCA State Dual Tournament loss.

Aurora claimed the first four matchups in taking a 19-0 lead. Louisville answered back with three consecutive pins from junior Dylan Rhoads (132), senior Pablo Castro (138), and junior Dominic Hoffarth (144). All three Leopards earned victory by fall despite wrestling up a weight class. This cut the Greenmen lead to 19-18 at the midway point of the dual.

Aurora won the next four bouts in scoring 24 straight points to take a 43-18 advantage, which was enough to punch their ticket to the championship final. Senior Blake Schaffer (215) won by 15-0 technical fall and senior Cameron Brazek (285) earned a second period pin in the heavyweight match to close out the dual.

3rd Place Match: #2 Louisville 48, #4 Ashland 25

The #2 seed Louisville Leopards never trailed during their 48-25 consolation third place match victory. With the win, Louisville finishes the season 12-1 in dual matches.

Senior Lacy Harvey (106) and sophomore Kolten Barker (113) set the tone early for the Leopards with back-to-back first period pins to begin the dual. Harvey needed just 10 seconds to win by fall in his match.

The Arrows won the next two matches to cut the Louisville lead to 12-10 before the Leopards roared back with three straight pins. Just like in the semifinal dual against Aurora, the trio of junior Dylan Rhoads (132), senior Pablo Castro (138), and junior Dominic Hoffarth (144) all wrestled up a weight callas and all won by fall in the process. The trifecta was capped off with a 17 second pin by Hoffarth.

Freshman Wyatt Smith (150) earned an 8-4 decision in the next bout to put Louisville comfortably ahead 33-10. Ashland cut into the lead by winning the next three matches to get within 33-25. But the Leopards matched the Arrows by sweeping the final three bouts to take the dual. senior Noah Peterson (190) won by 11-3 major decision, senior Blake Schaffer (215) won by 18-2 technical fall to clinch the match, and senior Cameron Brazek (285) earned a first period pin to finalize the score at 48-25.
