Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe #4 ranked Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team overcame an early deficit with 66 unanswered points en rout to defeating the visiting Lake Catholic Cougars 66-15 Saturday morning at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville secures its third straight DII Dual Team Tournament Regional Title as they improve to 10-0 in dual matches this season. The Leopards also advance to the DII Dual Team State Tournament for the third consecutive season, which will be hosted by Louisville High School on Saturday, February 5. BUY TICKETS HERE


Lake Catholic Jumps In Front 15-0

The Cougars got off to about the best start they could have envisioned. They pulled off two upsets while taking the first three matches in building a 15-0 advantage heading into the 126 bout. Lake Catholic sophomore Parker Pikor (ranked #21) edged out Louisville senior Lacy Harvey (ranked #8) for a 7-6 decision in the opening 106 match to give the Cougars momentum early on. Then, in a battle of top ranked 113 wrestlers, another Lake Catholic sophomore Joey Ramano (ranked #7) pinned Leopard sophomore Kolten Barker (ranked #6) with 12.7 seconds left in the first period to put the Cougars in front 9-0.

Lake Catholic expanded its lead to 15-0 in the 120 bout when top ranked Cougar senior Brendan McCrone pinned junior Connor Novosel in 2:43. 


Louisville Scores the Max in Final 11 Matches

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdLouisville didn’t lose a match after 120 and scored the maximum the rest of the way with 66 unanswered points. Leopard junior Dylan Rhoads (ranked #12) set the tone for the remainder of the dual with a 38 second pin of Lake Catholic sophomore Jayden Huszczo in the 126 match. Top ranked Louisville wrestlers in senior Pablo Castro (132) and junior Dominic Hoffarth (138) both received forfeits after that to put the Leopards in front 18-15.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdLouisville rolled after that receiving four more forfeits and winning four more matchups via first period pins. Other Leopards winning by fall included senior Josiah Walker (144), freshman Wyatt Smith (150), #10 ranked senior Brenden Severs (157), and #2 ranked senior Blake Schaffer (190). LHS wrestlers receiving forfeits included junior Jude Yeager (165), junior Gavin Hamilton (175), freshman Gavin Knisley (215), and #7 ranked senior Cameron Brazek (285).

UP NEXT: The Leopards will compete in and host the DII Dual Team State Tournament on Saturday, February 12 at Louisville High School.


Leopards Honor 10 Seniors Prior to Match

Louisville honored its 7 senior wrestlers and 3 senior wrestling statisticians for Senior Night prior to Saturday morning’s match against Lake Catholic. Senior wrestlers included Cameron Brazek, Pablo Castro, Lacy Harvey, Noah Peterson, Brenden Severs, Blake Schaffer, and Josiah Walker. Senior statisticians included Camryn Barker, Bailey Menegay, and Kayden White.
