The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team was edged by the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings 4-3 Monday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville falls to 5-4-1 on the season.
Junior Fallon VanZant scored a pair of goals on direct kicks to lead the Lady Leopards. Junior Morgan Keelan also added her team leading 17th goal of the season and Freshman Matti Benson contributed her team best 6th assist of the year.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan recorded 9 saves in net to lead Louisville on defense.
The Lady Vikings found themselves on the winning end of a high-scoring first half. Junior forward Malia Marinelli scored two goals in the opening half with one assisted by freshman defender Tiffany Nishimye. Senior forward/midfield Leyna McCarty also scored a header goal off senior defender Stella Burick’s corner kick.
Senior midfielder Lilly Tula scored the game-deciding goal in the second half for North Canton.
With the loss, the Lady Leopards have now dropped their past 6 meetings against the Lady Vikings in as many seasons. North Canton now leads the all-time series 12-2-1 which includes an undefeated 5-0-1 mark when playing at Louisville.
