Lady Leopards Shutout Nordonia 2-0 in Home Opener – Girls Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team shutout the visiting Nordonia Knights 2-0 in their home opener Saturday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville is now 1-1 on the young season.

Riley & Schillig Break Stalemate in 2nd Half
The game remained scoreless heading in the second half before the Lady Leopards struck first in the 45th minute. A corner kick from the right of the goal was deflected in the middle of the penalty box by a Nordonia defender. Riley Reese was Johnny-on-the-spot off the deflection and kicked the ball into the back of the net to put Louisville in front 1-0 with 35:47 remaining in the game.
Much later in the contest, the Knights appeared to have the inside path to the net. However, Reise Klein charged in from behind and took possession back for the Leopards. She distributed the ball to Payton Allan about 15 yards up field near the left sideline. Allan took control of the ball with a defender charging in and blasted a pass deep down field into Nordonia territory.
Alyssa Schillig met the ball about 47 yards away from the goal and left a Knight defender in the dust. She stormed ahead and booted the ball into the right side of the net past the sliding Nordonia goalkeeper. The insurance goal put LHS ahead 2-0 with 5:22 remaining in the game.
Edgein Records Shutout for Lady Leopards
Louisville preserved their two-goal cushion for the remainder of the contest leaving a goose egg on the away side of the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein recorded 5 saves and the shutout in goal for the Lady Leopards.
Louisville has now shutout Nordonia in their only two meetings. The Lady Leopards also blanked the Knights 3-0 last season.

The Lady Leopards JV Soccer Team doubled up the visiting Nordonia Knights 2-1 Saturday Evening. With the victory, Louisville JV is now 1-1 on the seaosn.
Kasey Lint scored a pair of first half goals to lead the Lady Leopards. Gianna Kruse recorded an assist on the second goal scored by Lint that broke a 1-1 tie before halftime.
Louisville shutout Nordonia in the second half to preserve the victory. Goalkeeper Ezela Manko finished with 3 saves for the Lady Leopards. Claire Genet was named player of the game for her lockdown defense.
