The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team avenged an earlier loss to New Philadelphia with a 4-1 home victory against the Lady Quakers Wednesday at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville is now an even 6-6 on the year.
The Lady Leopards won all three singles matches. Rachel Kibler won by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 count against Maddie Troyer in #1 singles. Sherilynn Mullett battled back, after dropping the first set for the second straight day, in a 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 #2 singles victory over New Philadelphia’s Grace Engstrom. Jade Thomas was also victorious for Louisville in #3 singles 7-5, 6-2 over Bryante Caldwell.
The two squads split victories in the two doubles matches. The #1 Leopards doubles teams of Bailey Menegay & Katie Yarnall defeated the Quaker duo of Sophie Troyer & Alli Richwine in a hard fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 match. The lone New Philadelphia point came via the combination of Alexis Mamula & Maggie Prucha who rallied to defeat the #2 Louisville doubles team of Kora Woolf & McKenzie Taylor 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Lady Quakers defeated the Lady Leopards 4-1 in New Philadelphia back on August 17. Louisville flipped the script at home Wednesday and now leads the all-time series 13-1 overall.
