The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team edged the visiting Archbishop Hoban Kngihts 3-2 Tuesday Evening at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 5-6 on the season.
Rachel Kibler remained dominate for the Lady Leopards in #1 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Hoban’s Campbell Miller. The Louisville #2 doubles team of McKenzie Taylor & Kora Woolfe also came away victorious with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over the Knights tandem of Nina Zaynor & Rebecca Vober.
Archbishop Hoban won a pair of matches claiming #3 singles and #1 doubles in straight sets. Grace Burkholder was the #3 singles winner defeating Jade Thomas 6-3, 6-1. The Knights duo of Angela Thompson & Elizabeth Savitski defeated the Leopards #1 doubles team of Bailey Menegay & Katie Yarnall 6-1, 6-2..
The match then came down to a battle in #2 singles. Hoban’s Kate Wenzlik won the opening set 6-3, but Louisville’s Sherilynn Mullett was resilient in rallying for a 6-4 win in the second set to even the match. The two competitors remained the last one’s standing on the court as the match raged on for over three hours. In the end Mullett was dominate in the final set 6-2 to claim the point and the match for the Lady Leopards.
Louisville has now defeated Archbishop Hoban in back-to-back seasons and now leads the all-time series 3-0.
