Leopards Dissipate Tornadoes 3-0 to Conclude Tournament – Softball

Louisville Leopards Softball 2018 Huddle in Circle Vs. Hoover

Louisville 3, Dover 0

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team shutout the Dover Tornadoes 3-0 Saturday Afternoon at Genshaft Park in their final game of the George Duhon Memorial Tournament. After winning all three games this weekend, Louisville is now 11-0 on the season.

Louisville Leopards Light Blue Hoodie Established 1924 - Beatty's Sports Fall 2017Sarah Cantley threw a 3-hit complete game shutout and struck out 11 to lead the Lady Leopards. She retired the first 8 Dover batters she faced and no Tornado swirled further than second base. Cantley improves to 9-0 on the season with the victory.

At the plate for Louisville, Kaycee Ollis batted 2-for-3, drove in a pair of runs, and also scored twice. Ollis doubled home Sydney McKeever in the third inning and then scored two batters later on Alex Fankhauser’s sacrifice line out. Ollis drove in herself in the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to right field that cleared the fence for her fourth dinger of the season and number 15 for her Varsity career.

The Leopards have now defeated the Tornadoes in each of the past two seasons. Dover still holds a 9-8 edge in the all-time series dating back to when both teams played in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference starting in 1990.

Louisville has now won 18 consecutive regular season games and 24 of their last 25 regular season games overall. The lone defeat was a 7-1 loss at West Branch on April 25, 2017. They will have a chance to avenge that loss on Monday when they travel to Beloit to take on the Warriors in a battle of undefeated 11-0 teams. The winner will take over the top spot in the NBC Standings
