Cantley Sets Team Strikeout Record as Louisville Blanks Dover – Softball
Louisville 8, Dover 0
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team shutout the Dover Tornadoes 8-0 in a rare night game at Genshaft Park in Massillon Friday. With the victory, Louisville moves to 11-2 on the year.
Sarah Cantley pitched a complete game shutout and struckout a Leopards team record 15 batters. Cantley eclipsed the previous mark of 14 held by herself against Massillon earlier this year and Brittany Flanigan who also fanned 14 at Canton McKinley in 2011. Cantley allowed 2 of her 3 hits in the opening inning, but followed that up by retiring 9 straight Tornadoes batters. Dover managed just two baserunners the rest of the way and neither made it past first.

Second Basemen Teagan Rice led the Louisville offense by batting 3-for-4 with a 3-run double in the second and a 3-run homer in the sixth inning. The home run was the first of Rice’s varsity career as she finished just a triple short of the cycle.
Ellie Jackson, Peyton McKeever, Sydney McKeever, and Kaycee Ollis all recorded 2 hits each as the Leopards finished with 14 hits as a team. Sydney McKeever hit a bases loaded single in the bottom of the second of the only other Louisville RBI. Courtesy Runner Riley Bobo also scored on an error in the third.
This was the Leopards first meeting against the Tornadoes since 2009 and their first win over Dover since a doubleheader sweep in 2001. Louisville still trails the all-time series 7-8 against their old NBC foe. LHS will continue play in the George Duhon Memorial Tournament at Genshaft Park in Massillon on Saturday.
