The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team fell to the host New Philadelphia Quakers 4-1 Monday. With the loss, Louisville drops to 2-3 on the season.
Rachel Kibler earned the only victory for the Lady Leopards in #1 singles. She defeated New Philadelphia’s Maddie Troyer by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 count.
The Quakers won the two other singles matches. Grace Engstrom defeated Sherilynn Mullett 6-3, 6-1 in #2 singles and Bryante Caldwell battled to defeat Jade Thomas 6-0, 3-6, 7-5 in #3 singles.
New Philadelphia won both doubles matches in straight sets. The tandem of Sophie Troyer & Alli Richwine defeated Louisville’s Bailey Menegay & Katie Yarnall in #1 doubles 6-3, 6-4. In #2 doubles, the Quaker duo of Alexis Mamula & Maggie Prucha defeated the Leopards team of Ashley Dadisman & Sophie Warner 6-2, 6-3.
This is the first time New Philadelphia has ever won against Louisville in the history of girls tennis. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 12-1 dating back to 1978.
