Conditioning the Key to Leopards Victory
“Conditioning paid off in overtime as we controlled the ball.” – Leopards Head Coach John Henkel
Defense took over after that as neither team would score for the next 1:05:58 of game time. Leopards Head Coach John Henkel said after the win that conditioning played a big role in Louisville’s ability to control the ball in overtime.
The Leopards edged the Quakers in total shots 22-19, but doubled them up in corner kicks 6-3. Louisville Freshman Goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan finished with 9 saves for the game.
Lady Leopards 1st Road Tournament Win Since 2012
The win snaps the Lady Leopards three game losing streak in the postseason as they improve to 8-16 all-time in tournament play (all in Division I). This was Louisville’s first tournament victory since a 3-1 home sectional semifinal win over the Perry Panthers on October 17, 2016.
