100th Win is Golden For Lady Leopards Soccer
Rachel Baughman’s Golden Goal
Louisville 1, GlenOak 0, OT
Rachel Baughman scored the Golden Goal with 12:17 left in the first overtime to lift Louisville past visiting GlenOak in the DI Girls Soccer Sectional Final at Louisville Leopards Stadium Thursday. The victory is the Lady Leopards 100th all-time and their 15th this season which ties the school mark for wins in single season (2012).
After playing to a scoreless tie in regulation, Louisville took immediate possession of the ball in overtime and held it in GlenOak’s end for nearly the entire 2:43. The game paused about 90 seconds in after Baughman laid on the ground after a hard hit. The following free kick deflected off of a Golden Eagles defender and past the end line giving the Leopards a corner kick.
Lizz Stefanik took booted the corner kick just above the goal box. After several deflections Baughman found the net for her 30th goal of the season and the Lady Leopards erupted into celebration. It was Baughman’s second Sectional Final Goal in as many seasons.
With the victory, Louisville is now 7-3-3 all-time against GlenOak including 2-0 in tournament play. Louisville improves to 100-71-20 all-time and 15-1-1 on the season.
