Lady Leopards Storm Past Marlington in Second Half – Girls Soccer
Louisville 4, Marlington 1
The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team turned a scoreless game at the half into a 4-1 thrashing of the host Marlington Dukes Wednesday Night at the Marlington Soccer Stadium. With the victory, Louisville remains unbeaten on the young season at 1-0-1.
Morgan Keelan and Gabby Smith each scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Lady Leopards. Megan Hampe, Jenny Hamsher, and Keelan also recorded assists for Louisville.
“They could not stop the speed of our play through the middle and we out ran them. Conditioning was the factor in the second half.” – Head Coach John Henkel
The Leopards out-shot the Dukes for game 26-13 and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Louisville Goalie Ameila Henderhan finished with 5 saves on defense.
With the victory, the Leopards have now won 7 out of their last 8 against the Dukes including the last 5 meetings played at Marlington. Louisville still trails the all-time series 7-9-1, but now holds a 5-4 record on the road against the Dukes.
