Re-Elect Corey Street Louisville City Council AdThe #14 seed Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team shutout the #6 seed Lake Catholic Cougars 1-0 in the DII Akron East 2 Sectional Finals Saturday at Lake Catholic High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-5-5 on the season and advances to take on the #13 seed Tallmadge Blue Devils in the DII Akron East 2 District Semifinals on Tuesday, October 26 at 6:00 PM.

Foley Scores Lone Goal to Lift Leopards

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdSenior Mason Foley scored on a second half penalty kick to give the Leopards a 1-0 advantage. For Foley, it was his sixth goal of the season tying him with sophomore Drew Dillen and freshman Dominic Porter-Kovacich for the team lead.

For Louisville, it is one of the most significant goals in team history as it would be the deciding factor in the Leopards claiming their third consecutive sectional championship.


Reynolds Records 5th Shutout

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe defense held the Cougars off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Senior goalkeeper Joe Reynolds recorded 5 saves en rout to his fifth shutout of the season and second straight tournament shutout.

This was the first ever meeting between LHS and Mentor Lake Catholic in Boys Soccer. This also marks Louisville’s largest upset in tournament history in terms of seed differential, the Cougars were eight seeds higher than the Leopards.


Louisville Wins 3rd Straight Sectional Title

Louisville has now won two tournament games in each of the past two seasons after never winning more than a single tournament game in a single season prior to 2019. The Leopards are now 18-21 all-time in tournament play and improve to 6-14 when playing on the road in the postseason.   

This is the Louisville’s seventh sectional title in team history, all of which have come in Division II. The Leopards are 0-6 in district semifinal games all-time, a trend they will try to change on Tuesday at Tallmadge.
