On September 24, 1971 the Louisville Leopards dismantled the Jackson Polar Bears 26-0. Fullback Ken Kuhn rushed 8 times for 129 yards and barreled his way to a 34 yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Louisville out-rushed Jackson 257-75 for the contest.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Leopards put together an 8 play 71 yard drive capped off by a 9 yard touchdown run by Ed Baker. In the third quarter, Dave Mazzan used his speed and shifty moves to weave his way through defenders for a 51 yard touchdown.
The only other touchdown came on a wild play late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback John Doerschuk rolled to his left where he found three defenders closing in on him. He then retreated towards the center of the field before airing out a pass to midfield. Wide open Barry Emerick caught the pass, juked a defender, received a knockout block, and ran the rest of the way for the 75 yard score.
Louisville completed 8 of 11 passes for 149 yards for the game, while the Polar Bears managed just 57 yards passing. The closest Jackson ever drove was the Louisville 30 before they turned the ball over on downs.
