Louisville Falls in Sectional at Boardman, Finishes 7-8-2 – Girls Soccer

The #9 Seed Louisville Leopards fell to the host #8 Seed Boardman Spartans 2-1 Monday at Spartan Stadium. With the loss, Louisville finishes the 2017 season with a record of 7-8-2.
Kayla Gibson scored on a breakaway via an assist from Hannah Baughman for the Leopards only goal of the game. The score knotted the contest at 1-1 with 30:26 remaining in the second half.
The Spartans answered back almost 23 minutes later when Cara Higgins laced a goal into the top of the net. The shot gave Boardman a 2-1 advantage with 7:42 remaining and their defense would shutdown Louisville the rest of the game to advance in the tournament.
The Lady Spartans got on the board first when Cassie Stitt scored the only goal of the first half. She drew a 1-on-1 with the keeper and scored exactly 8 minutes into the match. Boardman out-shot Louisville for the game 15-9.
With the loss, the Leopards are now 1-3 against the Spartans all-time which includes a 1-1 record in matches played at Boardman. Louisville is now 0-2 against the Spartans in tournament play and 7-15 in the postseason all-time. The Lady Leopards are also 3-12 in road tournament games throughout their history.
Boardman advances to play at top seeded North Canton Hoover (12-2-2) on Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 PM in the DI Austintown Sectional Finals.
