Leopards Rock Aurora 60-14 to Qualify for State Tournament – Wrestling

The #3 seed Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team earned a convincing 60-14 win over the #2 seed Aurora Greenmen Thursday in the DII Alliance District Semifinals as part of the Ohio High School Wrestling Coach’s Association Team Dual Tournament. With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-2 on the season and qualifies for the OHSWCA Team Dual State Tournament on Saturday, February 6 at Steubenville High School.
Louisville Open Up 18-0 Lead at the Start
The Leopards rumbled out of the gate to an 18-0 advantage. Brenden Severs (195) and Cameron Brazek (285) both pinned their opponents in less than 40 seconds. Noah Peterson (220) also claimed the maximum team points through forfeit in-between the two Louisville falls to open the match.
Aurora Answers With 3 Straight Victories
Moving to the top of the lineup, the Greenmen answered by taking the next three matches. Codie Cuerbo (106) and Rob Sagaris (113) both earned major decisions for Aurora. Antwan Sagaris followed with a 6-3 decision to cut their deficit to 18-11.
The Greenmen would only record one victory the rest of the way. Kaden McGohan (138) earned a 3-0 decision before Louisville scored 30 unanswered.
8 Leopards Record Pins In Rout of Greenmen
After Aurora cut the Leopards lead to 18-11, Louisville scored the maximum in 7 of the last 8 matches. Garett Lautzenheiser (126) and Pablo Castro (132) both won by fall in the opening period of their matches.
The Leopards then ripped off four straight pins from 145 to 170. Victors included Davin Rhoads (145), Dan Kennedy (152), Josiah Leonard (160), and Austin Stauffer (170)
Gavin Hamilton (182) concluded the match with a victory through forfeit.
