Louisville Falls to Lake 65-44, Second Quarter Run Kills Leps

Lake High School has not been a kind place to the Leopards boys basketball team all year long.  Earlier this year Louisville held a small halftime lead over Perry in the Hoops For Healing Classic in Uniontown.  The Panthers blitzed the Leopards in the second half 40-10 en route to a 58-28 win.  This time the wheels came off much earlier, as Lake (11-7) eventually routed Louisville  (11-8) 65-44.  Michael Schooley led all Leopard scorers with 12 points in the loss, while Ethan Adamczyk poured in a game-high 25 points for the Blue Streaks.

The Leopards were hot from the start as they jumped out to a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.  But Louisville only managed to penetrate the Blue Streaks defense for 4 points in the second period, while giving up 18.  It was 29-18 at halftime, but the Blue Streaks were not done electrifying the Leopards.  Lake outscored Louisville 21-14 in the third quarter to take a solid 18-point advantage into the fourth.  The benches cleared in the fourth, but Lake still rolled to the 65-44 win.

One of the keys to Lake’s success was shutting down the three-point threat of Louisville senior Owen Gramoy.  He was held to just 1 field goal and 4 points all night long, while being shutout from beyond the arch.  Gramoy has hit a three-pointer in every game all season, except two.  The other occasion he failed to hit a triple was December 11 against Perry at Lake High School.

The Blue Streaks also out-rebounded the Leopards 26-20.  Lake’s Ryan Coen led all rebounders with 9 to go along with his 12 points.  Toby Minster brought down 8 boards for the Leopards in the loss.  Schooley was the only one to score in double figures for Louisville, while the Blue Streaks had three in double figures: Adamczyk (25), Coen (12), and Tyler Maranville (10).
