Lady Leopards Finish 8-1 to Win Host LHS Doubles Classic – Girls Tennis

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team played host and won their annual Louisville Doubles Classic Saturday at Louisville High School. Louisville’s doubles teams finished 8-1 for the day which produced 2 Flite Champions and also a Flite Runner-Up. 

The doubles team of Rachel Kibler and Sherilynn Mullett finished a perfect 3-0 to win Flite 1. They earned straight set victories by the same count of 6-2, 6-1 against North Canton (Sarah Esterle and Lily Roland) and Jackson (Kendal Glitz and Maddie Lorenz) in the first two rounds. In their final matchup, the Leopards Flite 1 tandem earned a comeback 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Lake’s Savannah Miller and Olivia Paschke to take the Flite 1 Championship.

In Flite 2, the Louisville duo of Jo Menegay and Mandy Plaskett earned a hard fought 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in their opening round against the Blue Streaks’ Kali Aten and Hannah Wilson. Menegay and Plaskett convincingly won their second round match 6-1, 6-1 over their Jackson opponent (Audrey Brown and Elizabeth Soenlan). Finally, in the third round they rallied back to defeat North Canton’s Siena Pilati and Caroline Triner 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to claim the Flite 2 Championship.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Leopards Flite 3 squad of Kerstin St. Clair and Jade Thomas opened up the tournament with a 7-6, 6-3 victory in round 1 over Jackson (Audrey Gabrielle and Olivia Passerini) and won a hard fought second round match against North Canton (Emma Haupt and Jasmine Schans) 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. The Flite 3 Louisville team meant tough opposition in the third round against the Blue Streaks Sophie Ball and Eileen Copley. Lake won the final match 6-0, 6-1 to take the Flite 3 title.

With their only two losses coming against the Leopards, the Blue Steaks would finish as the tournament’s team runner-up with a record of 7-2. This is Louisville’s first Doubles Classic team title since 2016.
