Leopards Control First Half but Patrick Keeps Game Scoreless
Louisville generated the majority of the pressure throughout the opening 40 minutes but could not break through against Alliance sophomore goalkeeper Chase Patrick.
The Leopards held a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal, an 11-4 edge in total shot attempts, and took the only corner kick of the first half.
Patrick repeatedly kept the Aviators alive with saves from close range as the teams went into halftime locked in a scoreless tie.
Louisville continued to generate opportunities after the break and finished the night with a 26-12 advantage in total shot attempts and a 13-5 edge in shots on goal. Patrick made 12 saves to keep Alliance within striking distance until the final horn.
Sanders Breaks Through Early in Second Half
Louisville finally converted its pressure into the game’s only goal less than four minutes into the second half.
The sequence started in the Leopards’ own end when Keister launched a goal kick toward midfield. Parker Daum won the ball and sent a deep pass ahead to Cale Lindner on the right side of the attacking third.
Lindner got a touch on the ball near the right side of the penalty area before sliding a centering pass toward Sanders, who was breaking through the middle of the box.
Sanders met the pass with one touch and redirected it into the upper-right portion of the net to put Louisville ahead 1-0 with 36:10 remaining.
The goal was Sanders’ team-leading eighth of the season, while Lindner registered his second assist of the year on the play.
Keister Records Fourth Shutout of Season
Alliance generated more opportunities after halftime, but Louisville’s defense never allowed the Aviators to develop consistent pressure in front of goal.
Keister stopped all five Alliance shots on goal to complete his fourth shutout of the season.
Louisville also continued attacking after taking the lead, recording 15 second-half shot attempts and seven shots on goal.
The teams finished even with two corner kicks apiece, but Louisville held sizable advantages in both total shots and shots on target.
Keister and the Leopard defense made Sanders’ goal stand the rest of the way as Louisville closed out its fourth consecutive victory and extended its unbeaten streak to six matches.
Patrick Keeps Aviators Within Striking Distance
Despite Louisville’s statistical advantage, Alliance remained within one goal throughout the match thanks in large part to Patrick.
The sophomore goalkeeper repeatedly turned away Louisville chances, including multiple point-blank opportunities, and finished with 12 saves on the Leopards’ 13 shots on goal.
His performance allowed Alliance to remain one play away from an equalizer deep into the second half, but the Louisville defense never surrendered it.
Louisville Wins 12th Sectional Championship
Saturday’s victory delivered the 12th sectional championship in Louisville Boys Soccer history and continued an impressive run of postseason consistency.
The Leopards have now advanced to the district round in eight consecutive seasons, winning a sectional championship every year from 2019 through 2026 despite competing across three different divisions during that span.
Louisville’s sectional championships include seven in Division II, two in Division I, and three consecutive Division III titles since the OHSAA expanded boys soccer to seven divisions in 2024.
The Leopards are now 4-2 in Division III tournament play and improved to an even 26-26 all-time in the postseason.
Head coach Jared Komo improved to 15-8 in tournament play since taking over the program in 2018. Louisville was 11-18 in postseason games prior to Komo’s tenure, meaning Komo now has four more postseason victories than all previous Louisville coaches combined while reaching that total in six fewer games.
The Leopards are also now 11-17 all-time in road tournament contests, including a 9-6 mark under Komo.

Leopards Earn First Tournament Victory Over Alliance
Saturday also added another chapter to a series that has swung dramatically in Louisville’s favor over the past decade and a half.
Alliance once held a commanding advantage in the rivalry. Following its 1-0 victory in 2011, the Aviators led the all-time series 9-1-1. Since then, Louisville has gone 12-3 against Alliance.
The Leopards have won 11 of the past 13 meetings and now lead the all-time series 13-12-1. Saturday’s victory also evened Louisville’s all-time road record against Alliance at 7-7-1.
More importantly, it was Louisville’s first postseason victory over the Aviators. Alliance had won each of the previous three tournament meetings in 2003, 2009, and 2010.
The win also avenged Louisville’s 2-1 regular-season loss at Rockhill Soccer Complex on September 19, which had temporarily pulled the all-time series even.
Alliance was unbeaten in 12 of its last 14 matches coming into the contest. The Aviators finish the year 11-5.2.

Student Section Brings ESPN to Rockhill
Louisville also had a lively road following behind the team throughout the sectional final.
The Leopard student section dressed as an ESPN broadcast crew, complete with headsets and a makeshift broadcast table, and remained vocal throughout the match. They even conducted a halftime interview and flipped the table after Sanders’ scored the lone goal of the contest.
After Louisville secured the sectional championship, the players celebrated with the student section before eventually gathering with them inside the goal for a postgame picture.
Leopards Head to Kent Roosevelt for District Semifinal

The #23 Leopards will travel to face the #9 Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders in the Division III Northeast 2 District Semifinal on Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 PM at Roosevelt Stadium.
