Leopards Tangle in Scrimmage at Jackson in Football Weather

Louisville Leopards at Jackson Polar Bears 2012 Football Scrimmage

Jackson 2, Louisville 1

Joey Duckworth found a wide open Jeremy McQuilkin for about a 20 yard touchdown strike on the Leopards first series to give Louisville their only score of the scrimmage.  Jackson won the scrimmage in Fall-like weather 2-1.

During the scoring play, McQuilkin caught the ball at the five yard line and veered right to get by two Jackson defenders for the score.  Duckworth and McQuilkin also hooked up for a long pass play on the third play of the series to set-up the touchdown.

Jackson scored on their first series before Louisville threatened again in their second series.  Beatty's Sports 2012 Football ShirtTrey Hayford ripped off a long run to put the Leopards inside the Jackson 30.  However, the drive stalled after that.

On Jackson’s second series, the Leopards defense slammed the door and the Polar Bears stalled at midfield.  A flurry of bad snaps and a fumble by the Bears aided the Leopards defense.

Louisville failed to score on their third series before Jackson took back over in the final series of the Varsity scrimmage.  Then the Polar Bears marched down the field and scored on a 20 yard run.  Since these scrimmage series’ end on a certain amount of plays and not points, Jackson continued.  Then on the final play of the scrimmage, Louisville’s Garret Yoder grabbed an interception.

Earlier, the Leopards special teams looked good.  Alex Schooley was booming punts 40-50 yards in length and Merrick Storlie hit all of his extra point attempts & made field goals up to 42 yards.
