Leopards “Crank” Up for New Season in Scrimmage Vs. Lake

Louisville 10, Lake 3, 8 innings

Jon Crank hit a 2-run home run in the first inning and later hit a 2-run single to lead the Leopards to a 10-3 scrimmage victory over the Lake Blue Streaks Wednesday evening.


Gear Up with Beatty's SportsOn the mound Mike Kelly pitched three shutout innings to start the contest before striking out the side in the fourth.  Kelly also had multiple hits at the plate including an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth.

Lake produced three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Riley Groves shut down the Blue Streaks the last few innings to clinch the outcome.

Since it was a scrimmage the game went 8 innings and the Leopards hit in the bottom of the eighth.  Garrett Yoder had a 2-run single, Jordan Hughes had an RBI single, and Kyle White drove in two runs at the plate as the Leopards produced 5 runs in the inning.  After White’s at-bat, the scrimmage was called with two outs and the Leopards on top 10-3.

NEXT UP: The Leps will next open up the regular season at Minerva on Tuesday, March 27 at 4:30 PM.  The Leps have taken the last 8 meetings with the Lions who haven’t beat the Leopards since May 17, 2007 in the DII District Semifinals.  In fact, Louisville has won the last 12 regular season meetings dating back to April 14, 2005 when they lost at Minerva 3-2.  The JV squad will be home against the Minerva at the same time.
