Leopards Celebrate Senior Night With 1st Win Over Alliance Since 2004
Video Highlights
Louisville 2, Alliance 0
Riley Groves scored a goal and delivered an assist and Kyle Baker also scored a goal as the Louisville Leopards defeated the Alliance Aviators on Senior Night. The 2-0 win for the Leopards is their first over the Aviators since an 8-4 win at Alliance on August 28, 2004.
Goalie Austin Terra recorded his sixth shutout of the season, which ties him with Zach Kwasnicka (2006) for the single-season Louisville record. Terra earned his shutout too as Alliance broke free for several golden scoring opportunities. All of them proved to be fruitless though as the Sophomore keeper finished with a game-high 6 saves on the evening.
The Leopards first goal of the night came when Baker pickpocketed the dribble of an Alliance player in their own end. He then pushed a pass forward to his left to Groves and Groves crossed the pass back over to him near the goal. Baker beat the goalie to the ball for the score to make it 1-0 Louisville.
Louisville sealed the fate for Alliance late in the second half when Groves snuck just behind an Aviator defender down the left side of the field to stay onside. Groves then dribbled a few yards before planting the ball into the top-right corner of the net to give Louisville a 2-0 advantage.
The Leopards defense shutout Alliance despite the Aviators having a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks and out-shooting the Leopards 11-10.
With the win the Leopards guarantee themselves a winning season as they improve to 9-6 overall and finish 4-3 in the NBC.
