Burton Scores Twice to Lead Louisville
Carter Burton opened the scoring by netting a penalty kick with 3:46 remaining in the opening half to put the Leopards in front 1-0. Louisville would hold that one goal advantage deep into the second half before tacking on two more scores.
Kadan Swope scored in the 70th minute via an assist from Will Pochubay to give the Leopards a commanding 2-0 lead. The goal was Swope’s 4th season, with the assist being Pochubay’s 3rd of the campaign.
Louisville sealed the deal for good when Burton scored his second goal of the night via a goal kick by Ethan Lewis. Burton took possession of the blast from Lewis from about 45 yards away and stormed downfield for the score to put the Leopards up 3-0 with only 1:33 left in the game.
Burton has now scored a team leading 15 goals on the season. The assist was the first of the year for Lewis.
Foradis Records 2nd Shutout for Leopards
Giovanni Foradis kept a clean sheet throughout the contest. The shutout is his second of the season.
Louisville Ends 15 Year Drought Against Lake
Thursday’s game marked Louisville’s first victory all-time against Lake in boys soccer. The Leopards were 0-11-4 against the Blue Streaks coming into the game, which included an 0-6-1 record when playing at home in the series.
Louisville had tied Lake in 3 of their last 5 matchups, but were unable to hold early leads in each of those three draws. The Leopards grabbed the lead once again on Thursday, but flipped the script by blanking the Blue Streaks and tacking on multiple second half goals to ensure the victory.
Lake is now winless in its last 5 matches on the season as they fall to 3-8-2 heading into the tournament draw this weekend.
