Lady Leps Fly Above Aviators 12-0 Victory

Alliance Aviators at Louisville Leopards Girls Softball

FULL VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:

Louisville 12, Alliance 0, 6 innings

Amy Hoover and Katie Cozy both went yard in the sixth inning to give the Lady Leopards a 12-0 walk-off 6 inning victory over the Alliance Aviators Tuesday evening at the Field of Dreams.  Brittany Flanigan also pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 8 in the victory.

In the previous three meetings against the Alliance Aviators, Louisville managed to score just 6 runs.  Louisville finally solved the mystery of how to hit Alliance with a four-run third and a five-run sixth.

Before their explosive innings, the Leopards scratched and clawed their way onto the scoreboard.  Chandler Rice Gear Up with Beatty's Sportsbatted in the first two runs by hitting home Flanigan and Emily Isla to make it 2-0.  Then she used a few Alliance errors to created a run by herself as she went from first to home without the ball ever being put into play.

Flanigan was sharp as usual on the mound.  She struck out the side in the second inning and took a no-hitter into the fourth inning.  She also retired 18 of the 21 hitters she faced on the evening and only surrendered that lone hit in the fourth.

At the plate, Flanigan went 3-for-4 which included a double in her first at-bat.  She then had a three-run single  in the fourth that brought Jordan Monnot, Carlee Baumgardner, and Hoover to the plate.  She then took home, standing up, on a wild pitch to make it 7-0 Leps.

Baumgardner led off the sixth inning with her third hit of the contest.  Previously she had hit two doubles to the warning track that possibly could have cleared the fence had the wind not been blowing in.  Wind or no wind, Hoover followed by crushing a no-doubter over the right field wall to score both herself and Baumgarner.  The speedy Sophomore zoomed around the bases before being greeted by an entourage of Leopards at home plate.  Louisville 9, Alliance 0.

The machine continued.  Flanigan singled. Isla walked.  Then Cozy stepped up to the plate.  The freshman had gone hitless in her previous three at-bats, but took out all her frustrations on the second pitch she received.  The Leopards clean-up hitter planted the ball into a tree deep beyond the left field fence.  Leaves fell to the earth, the Lady Leopards soared to their second victory of the season.
