Lady Leps Finish Season With 16th Place Finish at State

CROSS COUNTRY

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Cross Country Team finished their season Saturday finishing 16th in the state in Division I.  Mackenzie Rankin led the Lady Leps with a 32nd place finish overall breaking out with a time of 18:58.22.

Although Louisville finished last amongst the Division I team’s that went to state, they actually finished faster than when they earned second place at Regionals last week.  Their team time of of 1:44:46.65 last weekend in Youngstown was eclipsed by a 1:41:31.68 time at the state meet Saturday.  Rankin finished her final race of the year with a time that was about 40 seconds faster than her Regional Championship finish as well.

Brunswick took the Division I Girls State Title with a time of 1:36:22.94 and Claudia Saunders from Cincinnati Princeton finished as the fastest individual runner in Division I with a time of 18:04.50.

The finish by the Leopards proves the level of speed and toughness at the State Meet.  This young Lady Leps team will look to make another run at state next season and hopefully bring home the hardware.
