Lady Leps Down a Pair of Devils in KSU Scrimmages

Brittany Flanigan KSU Scrimmages Louisville Leopards

Louisville 2, Tallmadge 0

Brittany Flanigan pitched 5 innings, struck out 9, and did not allow a single hit as Louisville defeated the Tallmadge Blue Devils 2-0 in a rare indoor contest at the Kent State Field House.

Shelby Swigert and Chandler Rice each had RBI’s for the Leopards on offense before the game was called in the top of the sixth due to time restraints.

Flanigan’s only blemishes on the mound were a hit batsman and a late walk.

Louisville 9, Crestwood 1

The Lady Leps offense sprung alive in the second contest against Crestwood.  Louisville scored six runs in the opening inning and never looked back as they defeated the Red Devils 9-1 in a five inning scrimmage.

Gear Up with Beatty's SportsSince the game was played indoors, anything that hit the net in the outfield was ruled a ground rule double.  This happened several times in the first inning for Louisville as they mounted their lead.  More netters also occurred in the third when Emily Isla, Katie Cozy, and Rice registered three straight doubles to extend the Leopard lead to 8-1.

Louisville tacked on an insurance run in the fifth and Gianna Falcone did the rest on the mound to complete the preseason with a 9-1 win.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I would like to extend a big thanks to Mike Baumgardner for sending me updates.  I was unable to attend this contest so big time kudos to him for the updates!

UP NEXT: If the weather holds up the Lady Leopards will open the regular season tomorrow at home against the GlenOak Golden Eagles in a doubleheader.  Game 1 begins at 12:00 and Game 2 will begin at approximately 2:00.  JV will play GlenOak at home at the same time.
