Lady Leopards Seniors Shine in Final Home Game

Louisville Lady Leopards Basketball Senior Night 2013

Video Highlights

Louisville 57, Marlington 30

The Lady Leopards kept pace for the NBC lead by downing the visiting Marlington Lady Dukes 57-30 Wednesday evening.  Jordan Monnot scored a game-high 14 points, while both Clara Lemmon and Mackenzie Rankin added 8 each to lead Louisville.

Marlington jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but it was all Lady Leopards after that.  Louisville closed the opening quarter on a 14-3 which was spearheaded by Monnot’s 8 points in the period.  Beatty's Winter HoodiesMonnot would go on to score 12 of her 14 points in the first half that saw the Lady Leopards take a 31-14 lead into the break.

The Seniors scored 44 of the Lady Leopards 57 points overall in the contest.  The Senior scorers that were not previously mentioned included Hannah Lemmon with 7, Chandler Rice with 5, and Nora Hmeidan with 2.  Hmeidan’s score came in the third quarter after grabbing a rebound and powerfully driving to the hoop for a lay-in that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The Lady Leopards doubled up the Dukes 18-9 in the third quarter and cruised in the fourth quarter to move to 13-6 overall and more importantly 10-2 in the NBC.  Louisville remains tied with West Branch for the top spot in the standings after the Lady Warriors defeated Carrollton 47-39 on the same night.

With the victory, the Lady Leopards finish their second straight season undefeated against conference opponents at home and have won 17 straight home NBC games overall.   Louisville has also taken 31 out of the last 32 meetings with Marlington and leads the all-time series over the Dukes 59-16.

Leopard Nation would like to give a shout-out to all six of our Lady Leopards Seniors! Thank You for all the great memories, for being great role models to follow for the upcoming classes, and for bringing home NBC Titles the past two seasons! With two more league victories you will be just the third class in LHS history to complete a three-peat!

Emily Hollifield led the Leopards with 14 points, Jessica Hamsher poured in 11, and Sydney Bartolet scored 7 as Louisville defeated Marlington 48-9 Wednesday.

Louisville scored the first 9 points of the contest and held Marlington scoreless for the first 7:30. The Dukes got their second consecutive bucket at the 6:00 mark of the second quarter, but the Lady Leopards closed the half on an 11-1 run to take a 20-5 halftime lead.

After shutting them out for nearly 13 minutes, the Lady Dukes scored in the waning seconds of the game to finalize the score at 48-9.
