Louisville 5, Field 3

Rachel Baughman’s Hat Trick goal put Louisville ahead 4-3 lead with 10:18 remaining before they eventually won the game 5-3 over the Field Falcons at a scorching hot Louisville Leopards Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Louisville carried a 2-1 lead into the break on Baughman’s first two goals, but then surrendered a pair of goals to Field at the beginning of the second half.

The Lady Leps knotted the game back up when Freshman Lizzy Mont tapped home a perfectly centered pass by Baughman in the goal box with 27:43 remaining.  The play was setup by a fantastic pass by Sami Keefe into the penalty box to Baughman who broke free.  Baughman juked and veered right before delivering the scoring package.

The game remained deadlocked at 3-3 for the next seventeen minutes because of great Beatty's Sports 2012 Football Shirtdefensive play by both teams.  The Super S’s for Louisville led the defense.  This included multiple steals by Sarah Wyss, huge hustle on defense from Sarah Jaroszyk, takeways from Sami Keefe, and other saves from Becca Springman, Cindy Skolosh, & Samantha Kibler.  Not to be overlooked was the aggressive defensive efforts of Jessica Hamsher and Kelly Miller as well.

The defense also sprung the Lady Leps loose for Baughman’s go-ahead goal.  Jaroszyk stormed in to deflect a Field pass allowing Hamsher to quickly defend the pass recipient.  Hamsher stole the ball and then sent it over to Mont.  Mont redirected the ball down to Jaroszyk down the right sideline.  Jaroszyk then dribbled around a defender and delivered a pass through the goal box to Baughman.  Baughman demolished it into the top of the net to give the Lady Leps a 4-3 lead.

The Leopards put the nail in the coffin five minutes later when Skolosh streamed ahead a lead pass to Devin Kring.  Kring avoided a potential steal and then blazed it past the stunned Falcon goalie to make it 5-3 Louisville.  She was the second Leopard Freshman to score in the contest.

The Leopards cruised the rest of the way before the clock ran out.  Louisville is now 2-1 on the young season on the eve of the Battle for Louisville game at St. Thomas Monday.
