Becca Springman Save Louisville Leopards Vs. Howland Tigers Girls Soccer

Jackson Summer Sizzler Scrimmages

The Lady Leopards soccer team traveled to Jackson Saturday morning to compete in the Jackson Summer Sizzler.  The weather forecast, however, was anything but sizzling or summer-like as the girls competed in three 40 minute scrimmages against Howland, Wadsworth, and host Jackson in Fall-like Weather.

In the first match against Howland, the Tigers controlled the ball in the Leopards end most Beatty's Sports Back To School Saleof the game and produced the only two goals of the contest.  Howland scored near the midway mark of the scrimmage and again just minutes from the conclusion of the scrimmage.

Despite the 2-0 loss, the Leopards defense made some extraordinary plays to stay in the game.  Sophomore Defender Sami Keefe blocked away a possible Howland scoring attempt inside the box and Junior Goalkeeper Becca Springman later made a fingertip save to disallow a goal.

In the final two scrimmages of the day, Louisville fell to Wadsworth 3-1 and also to Jackson 4-0.  Against the Grizzlies, Rachel Baughman headed in a goal off a corner kick for the Leopards lone score of the day.

The Lady Leps also fell to Hoover 1-0 last Tuesday making them 0-4 during a very tough scrimmage season.  They will look to rebound in their final two scrimmages when they host Ravenna at 7:00 PM Monday at Louisville Leopards Stadium and then travel to Crestwood on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
