Lady Leopards Win Home Opener Against Green 4-1 – Girls Tennis

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis Team earned a 4-1 home opener win against the visiting Green Bulldogs Monday at the Dennis Biery Sports Complex. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-0 on the young season.
Rachel Kibler and Jo Menegay both won their singles matches in straight sets to lead the Lady Leopards. Rachel Kibler dominated in #1 singles 6-1, 6-3 and Jo Menegay earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory in #2 singles.
Louisville also won two other hard fought matches in #3 singles and #1 doubles. Sherilynn Mullett won her opening set 6-3 before falling to Green’s Alyssa Westmyer 7-5 in the second set. Mullett came back strong in the final set winning by a convincing 6-1 count to claim the #3 singles match. The Leopards #1 doubles team of Amanda Plaskett and Jade Thomas also won their match in two sets 6-3, 7-6 after claiming a 7-3 tie-breaker in the second set.
The Bulldogs only point came in #2 doubles as the duo of Celeste Uhl and Emily Peel won in three sets 7-6 (7-2), 2-6, 6-3 over the Leopards squad of Bailey Menegay and Carleen Fouts.
With the win, Louisville has now defeated Green in their last two meetings. The Leopards now lead the all-time series over the Bulldogs 8-3.
