Girls Soccer Falls From 1st After Loss Against West Branch

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Soccer team fell to the visiting, Defending NBC Champion West Branch Warriors 3-1 Wednesday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville is now 3-5-2 overall and falls out of first place in the NBC with a record of 2-1-1.
The Leopards took the early lead when Hannah Baughman crossed a pass into the goal box that found the head of Brianna Horton for the score. The goal came just 2:34 into the contest.
Louisville held that 1-0 advantage until West Branch knotted the game at 1-1 with 16:22 left before halftime. Jenna Smith booted a free kick just outside the top right corner of the penalty box and Bailey Polinori redirected it into the net for the score.
The Warriors would score the go-ahead goal when Ali Schroeder found a breaking Mikaela Whaley on the left side of the box. Whaley crossed the ball into the right side of the net to put West Branch ahead 2-1 with 23:31 left in the game. Not long after, Schroeder got on the board herself from point blank range. The score was setup by an assist from Haley Davis and a corner kick by Kylie McLean at the 15:49 mark.
With the loss, Louisville has now dropped 7 of their last 9 meetings against West Branch. The Leopards now trail Warriors in the all-time series 2-10-1 including a 1-5-1 mark at home.
