Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball 2015-16 Vs. Tallmadge Blue Devils

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Tallmadge Blue Devils 49-30 Beatty's Louisville Leopards Pink Shirt Winter 2015Wednesday Night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville is off to their best start since the 2005-06 season with a record of 14-1.

Emily Hollifield scored 12 of her game-high 15 points in the first half to lead the Leopards. Sarah Lairson also scored 13 points & dished out a game-high 5 assists and both Grace Jackson & Alexa Oberster added 8 points each for Louisville.

The Leopards roared out to an 11-3 lead before the Blue Devils rallied back to knot the game at 13-13. Louisville Head Coach Garee McCully called timeout following the Tallmadge run. Louisville responded by scoring the next 12 points to take a double digit advantage. LHS would lead at the break 33-20.

Out of the locker room, the Leopards defense suffocated the Blue Devils to the tune of 14-2 in the third Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videoquarter. Louisville did not score from the field in the fourth quarter, but the damage had already been done as the DI #9 ranked Leopards rolled to a 19-point win.

Louisville produced 15 steals in the game led by Lairson’s game-high 5 and Hollifield who had 3. The Lady Leopards also won the battle on the glass 34-29. Jackson finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and Sabyrna Benzel also crashed the boards with 8 for Louisville.

Tallmadge (11-4) was led by Bein Stalka who scored a team-high 7 points. Jamie McGhee also scored 6 and Olivia Ayres, Rachelle Haught, Ally Waumenhoven all added 4.

With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Blue Devils in each of the past two seasons. Louisville is now 4-1 in out of conference play this season and they have won 14 straight overall.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Marlington Dukes on Saturday, January 23. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 1:30 PM.

JV: Louisville 38, Tallmadge 31

The Lady Leopards JV Team defeated the visiting Blue Devils 38-31 Wednesday Evening at LHS. With their 14th straight victory, Louisville improves their record to 14-1 on the year.

Alexis Beaver scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Leopards. Maggie Galentine also hit 2 three-Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videopointers & finished with 9 and Erin Hahn tacked on 8 for Louisville.

After a defensive first half, the Leopards found themselves up 13-12 at the break. Louisville took control of the contest by outscoring Tallmadge 17-6 in the third to lead 30-18.

They held a commanding lead late before the Blue Devils mounted a furious rally. They would get as close as 35-31 before the Leopards put the game away with free throws down the stretch.

Tallmadge was led by Andreana Gotto, Alanna McGhee, an Emily Pratt who scored 7 points each.
