Lady Leopards Finish Undefeated at George Duhon Memorial Tournament – Softball
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team went an undefeated 3-0 at the George Duhon Memorial Tournament held at Genshaft Park in Massillon Friday and Saturday. The Leopards defeated Dover 8-0 Friday Night before defeating Lake 8-4 and Tuslaw 1-0 Saturday Afternoon. With their fifth straight victory, Louisville is now 13-2 on the year.
Louisville 8, Lake 4
Kaycee Ollis batted a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI Single, RBI Double, and a 2-run homer to lead the Leopards. Ollis also recorded a steal and scored 3 runs.
Louisville put up a 3-spot in each of the first two innings to go up 6-1 heading into the third. Lake scored a single run in 4 consecutive innings to cut the deficit to 6-4 at the end of the fifth. Ollis homered in the sixth to give the Leopards an 8-4 cushion that they would ride to the end.
Ellie Jackson also batted 2-for-3 with a 2-run double. Teagan Rice went 2-for 3 with a pair of doubles, RBI, and 2 runs scored. Alex Fankhauser also cracked 2 hits and had an RBI.
In the circle, Sarah Cantley pitched 5 1/3 innings in relief, gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits, and struck out 10 to earn the win. Starter Morgan Harris also worked 1 1/3 innings and struck out 2.
The Blue Streaks were led by Jordan Meade who batted 2-for-3 with a pair of solo homers. Madison Dudek also went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Lauren McMillin finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Pitcher Katie Herrick also struck out 7 as Lake dropped to 7-5.

Louisville 1, Tuslaw 0
Leopards Pitchers Kirsten Wharmby and Sarah Cantley combined for a shutout of the Mustangs in their third and final game of the George Duhon Memorial Tournament. Wharmby started the first 3 1/3 innings, gave up 7 hits, and struck out 1. Cantley pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, gave up 2 hits, and fanned 4. Neither pitcher issued a walk in the contest.
Louisville broke the stalemate in the fifth inning. Savannah Miner reached base on an error to open the inning and was sacrificed to second base by Lexi Zavarelle. After another out, Teagan Rice also reached on an error by the Tuslaw outfield allowing Miner to score from second.
The Mustangs out-hit the Leopards 9-4 for the game. Rylee Squire finished with 2 of the 4 Louisville hits. Tuslaw was led by Brianna Cooper and Sierra Neff who had 2 hits a piece. Neff also pitched a completed game and struck out 3 for THS.
With the victory, the Leopards are now 1-1 against the Mustangs all-time. Louisville fell at Tuslaw 5-2 in their last meeting 27 years before on April 30, 1990. The 9,854 day gap between games in the series is the longest for any Leopards Softball opponent in team history.
