Five Fitch Goals Knock Lady Leps out of the Tournament

STORLIE GOAL:

Austintown Fitch 5, Louisville 1

The Austintown Fitch Falcons defeated the Louisville Lady Leopards 5-1 Saturday afternoon in a sectional final girls soccer match at Bob Dove Field in Canfield.

After giving up two goals earlier in the first half, Louisville trimmed the Fitch lead in half with a goal of their own.  Mackenzie Storlie broke free and charged toward the goal.  The Austintown goalie tried to intercept her and deflect her shot away, but Storlie falling to the ground kicked the ball just high enough to miss the goalie to the left.  The ball rolled slowly towards the net.  As the ball was crossed the line, Michelle Patterson removed all doubt by blasting it home to make the score 2-1 with 10:42 left to go in the first half.  The official box score credited Storlie with the goal.

The Lady Leps momentum didn’t last long though as Fitch answered right back 66 seconds later with a goal to make it 3-1.  Fitch would score again just before the break to make it 4-1 at halftime.

The loss ends the Lady Leps season one game short of Districts.  Louisville finishes the 2011 campaign 10-7-0, a drastic improvement from a 4 win season just a year ago.
