Louisville Cruises Past Cuyahoga Falls 83-51 to Advance to District Final – Boys Basketball

The #4 seed Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball Team defeated the visiting #37 seed Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers 83-51 in the DIII Northeast 6 District Semifinals Wednesday night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 19-5 on the season and advances to play the #10 seed Northwest Indians in the District Championship game on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 PM from North Royalton.

Gross and Siegfried Dominate with Double-Doubles for Leopards
Both Brayden Gross and Beau Siegfried recorded double-doubles in their final home game as Leopards’ basketball players. Gross scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and registered a block.
Siegfried hit a pair of three-pointers and scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening half as Louisville took command of the game early. Siegfried also dished out a game-best 11 assists, tallied 4 steals, and grabbed 3 rebounds.
After an early 2-2 tie, the Leopards strung together a 13-0 run and never looked back. Louisville led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter and doubled up Cuyahoga Falls at the half 42-21.
Aljancic and Andrejcik Score Double Figures
Tate Aljancic made a pair of three-pointers and scored all 14 of his points in the first three quarters. Aljancic also grabbed 3 boards and had a block on defense. Avery Andrejcik hit a team-high 3 three-pointers and finished with 13 points. Andrejcik also tallied 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal.
Twelve different players contributed field goals as the Leopards finished with 35 made shots from the field. Ashton Marshall led the remaining scorers with 5 points to go along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Devin Bailey scored 3 points and had 2 assists. Kolton Loy scored a basket in the opening quarter, had 4 rebounds, and tallied 2 steals.
Louisville showcased its depth with five bench players contributing in their only action in the fourth quarter. Caleb Mayle and Gabe Stoffer hit from beyond the arc. Cohen Rogers, Austin Wade, and Cody Zahler each sunk field goals within the arc.
The Leopards outscored the Black Tigers 14-12 in the third quarter and 27-18 in the fourth to roll to a 32-point win.
Payne and Johnson Lead Black Tigers
Shannon Payne scored in every quarter en route to finishing with a team-high 14 points, 4 Assists, 3 Steals, and a block to lead Cuyahoga Falls. Hayden Johnson also scored in every quarter, hit a pair of three-pointers, and tallied 11 for the evening.
Eight different Black Tigers scored field goals in the game. Martin Smith scored all 7 of his points in the first half. Jordan Kramer buried 2 three-pointers in the fourth quarter. The Black Tigers end the campaign falling in 4 of their last 5, their 73-49 win over Willoughby South in the sectional finals was their only win during that stretch. Cuyahoga Falls finishes the season with a 10-14 record.
Louisville Avenges Playoff Loss from 11 Years Ago
The Leopards and Black Tigers met in their only other meeting on the court 11 years ago to the day. Louisville fell 49-46 at Cuyahoga Falls in their first road tournament game on February 26, 2014 in the DI Canton Sectional Semifinals.
The Leopards, who would have been first graders or younger 11 years ago, avenged that loss to the Black Tigers Wednesday to even the series.

Leopards Advance to District Championship for 4th Time Since 2020
Louisville now holds a 67-91 record in tournament play, dating back to 1932. The Leopards have now won eight straight home playoff games and boast an 11-2 all-time postseason record at Louisville High School.
Louisville has now reached the district championship for the fourth time in six seasons.. This is the Leopards’ seventh all-time district championship appearance as they seek their third district championship in team history.
