Cozy Ties Career HR Record, Softball Storms Past Lions

The Louisville Leopards clawed the host Minerva Lions for an 8-1 road victory Monday Evening. With the victory, Louisville is now 7-5 overall and stays a perfect 6-0 in the NBC.
Katie Cozy led the Lady Leopards by batting 2-for-3 with a homer and 4 RBIs. Her 3-run jack cleared the left-center field wall to break the game open at 7-1 in favor of Louisville. Cozy’s shot was the 20th of her career which ties her with Chandler Rice for the school career home run record.
In the circle, Morgan Harris worked five innings, gave up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, and struck out 7 to pick up the win. The lone Lions run came in the first inning. Reusser’s groundout to first allowed Hume to score from third. Hume had reach base via an overthrow 3 batters before.
Harris answered the Minerva score in the second inning as she struck out the side. The Lions managed to record just 3 hits the rest of the game as Harris improved to 4-3 on the year.
Grace Jackson also batted 2-for-4 for Louisville with a double, a triple, and 3 runs scored. Aliyah English & Savannah Miner also pounded RBI doubles and both Emily Cantley & Lexi Givens drove in runs early on to contribute to the Lady Leopards offensive explosion.
Minerva was led by Rachel Eberling who batted 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and also pitched 5 strikeouts. The Lions are now 7-2 on the season and 3-2 in the NBC.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Minerva in 13 consecutive meetings. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 37-10, which includes a 19-5 mark at MHS. Louisville has now won 58 straight NBC games and has taken 75 out of their last 76 league games overall.
