Lady Leopards Race Under the Saturday Night Lights – Cross Country

Louisville Leopards Girls Cross Country 2019 at Saturday Night Lights in Centerville

Louisville – 508 (24th Out of 27)

The Louisville Leopards Girls Cross Country Team competed at the Saturday Night Lights IX Race held at Centerville High School Saturday. Louisville finished with 508 total places to finish 24th out of 27 competing teams in their first ever night race under the lights in program history.

Cassidy Kiko was the Lady Leopards top runner placing 64th with a time of 19:27.9. Other top Louisville runners included Kayla Gibson (19:59.6) in 101st, Caitlyn Gatta (20:23.9) in 125th, Diana Pukys (20:46.0) in 144th, and Emma Patterson (20:59.7) who placed 163rd.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdAll-in-all nine different Louisville runners competed under the lights. Other runners included Chloe Cole (207th), Sophia Mackall (212th), Marisa Brown (219th), and Aliya Shine (250th) against a field of 253 participants. Cole, Mackall, and Brown all finished with personal best times. 

With a 9:15 PM race time, it marked the first time the program raced under the lights. With 21 out 27 teams that were ranked in the state polls the Leopards went into the race with excitement and a confident attitude. The warm humid conditions did not allow for our best times but the competition had our girls fighting until the last meter.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe #2 ranked Hillard Davidson Wildcats won the race as a team with 128 total places, 17 points ahead of the host Centerville Elks who scored 145. The Mason Comets (198) also took third and the Loveland Tigers (244) placed fourth. Springfield Catholic Central’s Addie Engel won the race individually with a time of 17:16.4. Host Centerville’s Emma Bucher (17:26.3) finished as the runner-up and Oakwood’s Grace Hartman (17:31.1) took third.

UP NEXT:The Lady Leopards will next compete at the Stark County Championships Meet on Saturday, September 28 at GlenOak High School. Girls DI Varsity race is set to begin at 12:10 PM.
