Thomas Hurls 2nd Straight No-Hitter as Louisville Drubs Carrollton – Softball
Louisville 17, Carrollton 0, 5 Innings
Shae Thomas threw a no-hitter for the second straight evening as the Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team drubbed the visiting Carrollton Warriors 17-0 in 5 Innings Wednesday. With the victory, Louisville is now 3-1 on the season.
Thomas retired the first 6 Warriors she faced and also the final 9. The only Carrollton batter to reach base came at the start of the third inning when Erinn Leggett reached on an infield error. Thomas got redemption in the fifth inning as she got Leggett to ground out to shortstop Teagan Rice to end the game. Thomas struck out 4 as she improved her win-loss record to 2-1 on the young season.
Just like against GlenOak, Louisville pitching got plenty of run support. The Lady Leopards scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first on a pair of 2-run homers by Kaycee Olllis and Kaylee Nolte. Louisville scored 10 two-out runs in the bottom of the second inning against GlenOak Tuesday and topped that performance by scoring 12 runs with two outs in the bottom of the second against Carrollton Wednesday.
With the victory, the Lady Leopards have now won 16 straight against the Lady Warriors including the last 8 in the series at the Diamond of Dreams. Louisville now owns a 44-17 record against Carrollton all-time which includes a 25-7 record at home against CHS. This is the 14th time the Leopards have shutout the Warriors and second time they have held them to no hits. Cantley threw a 6 inning on-hitter last year at home against Carrollton in a 10-0 LHS victory on May 7, 2018.
Head Coach Andrea Arney passes Connie Surowicz (48-57 from 1989-1993) with the victory to become the winningest female coach in team history. She is now alone in fourth place for all-time coaching wins with a record of 49-7 (.875).
UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Softball Team will next host the Jackson Polar Bears on Friday, April 5 at 5:00 PM.
