Boys Tennis 15-Game Winning Streak Is 3rd Longest in Team History
Louisville 4, Perry 1
The Louisville Leopards Boys Tennis team avenged 1 of their 2 losses last season with a 4-1 victory over visiting Perry Monday. With the victory, Louisville is now 15-1 on the season.
Jake Pukys dominated in #1 Singles with a double bagel 6-0, 6-0 victory. The #1 Doubles team of Alex Hall and Hunter Williams also won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
Two matches went to a third set and ultimately decided the outcome. In #3 Singles Vic Knebl won 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 and in #2 Doubles Andy Hall & Kyle Robinson dominated the final set to win 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.
With the victory the Leopards have now won 15 straight matches, which ties last year’s 15-game winning streak for the third longest all-time. The 1978-80 teams won 24 straight matches and the 2003-04 teams won 16 straight matches. Only the perfect 17-0 of 1979 has won more consecutive matches in a single season.
Louisville has now taken 2 out of the last 3 from Perry. The Panthers won the previous 8 prior to that though. The all-time series is now tied at 15-15.
