Louisville Blanks Fitch 2-0 in Regular Season Finale – Girls Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team shutout the visiting Austintown Fitch Falcons 2-0 Wednesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville finishes the regular season with a record of 13-3-1.
Miller Scores in Each Half to Lead LHS
Senior Mazzy Miller scored the only two goals of the contest to lead the Lady Leopards. Junior Payton Allan pushed ahead a pass to Miller in the center of the penalty box. Miller beat the Fitch goalkeeper to the ball and redirected it into the back of the net to give Louisville a 1-0 lead with 14:52 remaining in the opening half.
Miller doubled the Leopard advantage later in the second half. Senior Paige Folk booted a corner kick from the right corner and Miller headed it home to put Louisville up 2-0 with 27:56 left in the game.
Edgein Records Shutout for Louisville
Junior goalkeeper Audrey Mercier was given the night off, but business continued as usual in the net for the Leopards. Freshman Tristyn Edgein went the whole way in earning her first solo shutout of the season.
Louisville has now recorded 11 shutouts as a team in 17 games and outscored opponents 52-8 overall. The eight goals allowed is the least amount given up by the Lady Leopards in a regular season. The 2016 team surrendered 12 goals in a 14 game regular season. Last year’s team allowed 16 goals in a comparable 17 game season. This year’s team chopped that total in half.
Leopards Earn 1st Win Over Falcons
Louisville earned its first victory over Austintown Fitch Wednesday Night. The Lady Leopards were 0-4 against the Lady Falcons coming into the evening, which included two tournament losses in 2011 and 2015. This was just the second meeting in the series played at Louisville. Austintown Fitch won the other meeting at Louisville Leopards Stadium 3-1 back in 2017.
The Lady Leopards close the regular season winning 9 of their last 10 home games and finishing 9-1-1 at Louisville Leopards Stadium for the regular season. Louisville will look to continue their winning ways at home when they host the #19 seed Eastlake North Rangers in the DI Northeast 2 Sectional Finals on Tuesday, October 19 at 6:00 PM.
