The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team downed the visiting Akron Garfield Golden Rams 66-54 Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. This was the Leopards first home game in a full calendar month and the win lands them at 7-4 at the midway mark of the 2024-2025 campaign.

Aljancic Scores Team High 23 to Lead Leopards
Tate Aljancic scored 8 of his team high 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Leopards.
Louisville led 17-12 after eight minutes before hitting 5 three-pointers and exploding for 22 points in the second quarter. Aljancic cashed in on 2 of his 3 three-pointers in the period and tallied half of the Leopards points in the quarter. LHS took a double digit 39-28 lead into the half as a result.
Bailey and Siegfried Finish in Double Figures
Devin Bailey and Beau Siegfried also hit 3 three-pointers on the night and finished in double figures. Bailey made a pair of three-pointers while scoring 10 of his 13 points in the opening stanza. Siegfried scored all of his 11 points in the first half.
Points came more at a premium in the third quarter as Garfield outscored Louisville 12-8 in the period to narrow their deficit to 47-40 heading into the fourth. However, the Leopards would bury 2 more three-pointers in the fourth quarter and make 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch to clinch their fifth double digit victory of the season.
Ashton Marshall scored 7 of his 8 points in the fourth quarter including a make from beyond the arc. Other scorers for Louisville in the game included Kolton Loy with 6 and Avery Andrejcik with 5.
Hamilton Pours in Game High 35 for Golden Rams
Rayshawn Hamilton scored 12 of his game high 35 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Golden Rams. He buried 7 of Garfield’s 9 three-points in the game and hit 7 other field goals inside the arc.
Brima Barry was second in scoring for the Golden Rams with 7. Cory Rosenthal and Thomas Walker both tacked on 4. Lamont Brooks and Terion Chapman also registered in the scorebook with a field goal each for Garfield.
The Golden Rams had won 6 of their last 7 games coming into the contest with their only loss coming at St. Ignatius 83-68. Akron Garfield is now 7-3 on the season.
Louisville Vs. Akron Garfield Boys Basketball Series
The Leopards are now 3-0 all-time against the Golden Rams, which includes a 2-0 record at home in the series. Louisville also defeated Akron Garfield 73-52 at LHS last season. Their only other meeting together came in 2022 at the Jimmy Gooden Classic. The Leopards also won that matchup 70-53 on the neutral Akron Springfield court.
