Pauli Scores Twice, Adds Assist to Lead Leopards
Emily Pauli turned in a three-point performance with two goals and an assist to lead the Louisville attack.
The Leopards struck less than four minutes into the contest following a well-worked sequence in the Alliance penalty area. Kasey Lint sent a ball into the middle from the right side, where Ruby Rodriguez got a touch on it before Ava Waggoner redirected it back toward Pauli at the top of the box. Pauli drove a shot into the upper-left corner of the net to give Louisville a 1-0 lead with 36:03 remaining in the first half.
Pauli struck again late in the opening half. Lint controlled the ball in the middle of the box and laid it back to Pauli near the top of the 18. Her ensuing shot deflected off an Alliance defender and found the left side of the net to extend the Leopard advantage to 3-0 with 3:42 before halftime.
Pauli then helped put the finishing touch on the victory in the closing seconds. She delivered a touch pass to Waggoner, who launched a deep shot from well outside the box that found the net with just three seconds remaining.
Pauli finished the night with two goals and an assist while having a hand in half of Louisville’s six goals.
Louisville Dominates To the Very End
Louisville built its 3-0 halftime advantage behind goals from Pauli and Rodriguez before adding three more after the break.
Rodriguez doubled the lead with 17:47 remaining in the first half. Haile Folk started the opportunity with a long ball ahead to Lint, who drew the Alliance goalkeeper toward the top of the box. The ball was knocked loose but never cleared by the Aviator defense, allowing Rodriguez to fire a clear shot into the open net for a 2-0 Louisville advantage.
Lint continued to create opportunities in the second half. Following an Alliance deflection in the back third, she made a sharp turn to gain possession before crossing from the right corner toward Folk in the center of the box. Folk redirected the ball home amid contact to increase the lead to 4-0 with 26:12 remaining.
Ashley Yarian added Louisville’s fifth goal on a free kick with 3:50 left before Waggoner’s long-range strike in the final seconds completed the 6-0 rout.
Edgein Records Back-to-Back Clean Sheets
The Louisville defense continued its perfect start to the regular season by keeping Alliance off the scoreboard.
Goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein turned away both Aviator shots on goal to record her second shutout in as many games.
Louisville Wins 12th of Last 14 Against Alliance
The victory continued Louisville’s long run of success against Alliance. The Lady Leopards have now won 12 of the last 14 meetings between the two programs, with the only exceptions during that stretch being a scoreless draw in 2023 and a 4-2 loss at Alliance in 2024.
Louisville now leads the all-time series 14-5-2 and has outscored the Aviators 72-20 across 21 meetings. The Lady Leopards are 6-3-1 all-time on the road against Alliance and have recorded 10 shutouts in the series.
Louisville’s 6-0 victory also marked its largest win over Alliance since defeating the Aviators by the same score at home in 2013.
