Baker Outscores Opposition Again with Game-High 25

West Main Vet Clinic AdMaggie Baker scored 14 of her game-high 25 points in the first half to lead the Leopards. Baker accounted for Louisville’s only two three-pointers of the contest in the opening quarter in which she amassed 10 points.

The Lady Leopards stormed out to a 20-0 advantage out of the gate before the Wildcats finally got on the scoreboard with under 1:48 to play. The 20-point opening run is the most since Louisville led 22-0 at the end of the first quarter in a 66-15 home win over Alliance on January 29, 2011.

This is the second straight game that Baker has outscored the opposing team. She also scored 31 points in the Lady Leopards’ 67-30 victory over the Lady Dukes last Wednesday.

Tillett Pours in 20 to Also Outscores Struthers

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdElla Tillett scored 6 points in each of the first three quarters before capping off her 20-point evening with a fourth quarter basket. That basket allowed Tillett to also outscore Struthers on the night. This marked the first time on record that two Louisville players outscored an opponent’s team total in the same game.

The Lady Leopards pulled ahead 35-9 at the half and 49-14 by the end of the third quarter.

Mikayla Salmons also scored 7 of her 11 points in the first quarter. Other scorers for Louisville included Makayla Tanner with 4 and Lilly Seaman with 2.

Martin Leads Wildcats with Team-High 8

Gianna Martin scored 6 of her team-high 8 points in the first half to lead Struthers. Natalie Wolikow made the Wildcats’ lone three-pointer and finished with 5. Other scorers for Struthers included Emily McDowell with 4 and Vivian Marker with 1.

The Lady Wildcats have now lost 6 in a row as they drop to 2-18 on the season. Their last victory came against Cardinal Mooney 37-32 on January 21. The Leopards will host the Cardinals next on Wednesday.

Struthers is the 92nd unique opponent Louisville Girls Basketball has gone head-to-head with all-time. They are also the third brand new opponent the Lady Leopards have faced this season, with two remaining on the schedule. They will travel to Cloverleaf on Monday, February 16, and later host Bedford on Saturday, February 21 in the DIII Northeast 4 Sectional Finals.
