The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Boardman Spartans 35-27 Thursday night at Louisville High School. With their third straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-5 on the season.

Baker Registers Game-High 16 to Lead Louisville

West Main Vet Clinic AdMaggie Baker poured in 9 of her game-high 16 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. She also finished with a team-high 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Baker scored in every quarter as she finished in double figures for the sixth game in a row.

Points were at a premium Thursday night as Louisville led just 7-5 at the end of the first quarter and 13-11 at the midway point. The Lady Leopards took control of the game by outscoring the Spartans 12-7 in the third quarter and took a 25-18 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Louisville edged Boardman 10-9 in the final stanza to finalize an 8-point victory. Baker finished with 6 points in the fourth quarter and was a clutch 4-for-4 from the free throw line down the stretch.


Lowest Point Total in Home Win Since 2005

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdMabel Kiko scored all of her 7 points in the second half, including a pair of baskets in the fourth quarter for the Lady Leopards. Kiko also added a well-rounded stat line of 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block.

Mikayla Salmons and Ella Tillett scored all of their points from the field in adding 6 points apiece. Tillett registered a game-best 3 blocks to go along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Salmons had a game-high 3 steals and matched Baker with a team-leading 4 rebounds.

The 35 points scored by Louisville marked its lowest total in a home victory since a 33-29 victory over West Branch on December 21, 2005. The Lady Leopards are just 6-84 (.067) when scoring 35 points or less since 1995 with two of those victories coming this season. Louisville won at CVCA 33-31 back on December 3.


Slevin Scores Team-High 11 to Lead Boardman

Madison Slevin scored 8 of her team-high 11 points in the second half to lead the Lady Spartans. Slevin also posted game-highs of 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Slevin made 3 of Boardman’s 5 three-pointers on the night.

Jocelynn Torres made the first three-pointer of the game in the opening period and would finish with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Grace Miller added a three-pointer in the second quarter and finished with 5 points and 2 steals.

Other scorers for the Lady Spartans included Liliana Ison with 3 and Emma Terlesky with 2. Terlesky matched Slevin with a game-high 7 rebounds to go along with 2 steals and a block on defense. Ison added 6 rebounds and tacked on a pair of steals. 

Boardman has now dropped 4 of its last 5 falling to 2-6 on the season.


Leopards Vs. Spartans Girls Basketball Series
