Maggie Baker and Courtney Barwick each poured in a game-high 21 points to power the Lady Leopards to victory.

Baker scored 11 of her points in the first half as Louisville built a 25-11 advantage at the break. She made three of the Leopards’ four three-pointers in the game, grabbed six rebounds, and registered a game-high five steals to lead the defense.

Barwick took over in the second half, scoring 14 of her 21 points as Louisville outscored Ursuline 39-26 in the final two quarters. She also contributed five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Biery Leads the Leopards on the Glass

Reagan Biery scored all seven of her points in the second half while leading Louisville in rebounds with nine. She electrified the crowd by sinking a three-pointer from the left corner early in the fourth quarter.

Biery also tallied a block and a team-best four assists, helping the Leopards convert 17 field goals off assists in the game.

Karis Miglich and Ella Tillett pulled down four rebounds each. Miglich added five points, three assists, and two steals, while Tillett finished with four points, a team-best three blocks, and two steals.

Cline Returns from Injury to Score Opening Basket

Senior Chay Cline suffered a season-ending injury weeks before the season opener. On Senior Night, she made her long-awaited return to the court to score the Leopards’ opening basket.

The game began with a true act of sportsmanship by both teams. Louisville let Ursuline win the tip-off and score undefended. The Fighting Irish then returned the favor, allowing all five Leopards’ starters to touch the ball in an unguarded passing sequence down the court. Seniors Barwick and Biery made the final two passes before Cline, standing under the basket, laid the ball in for her first points of the season.

Cline received her curtain call and was embraced by her teammates and coaches.

The intentionally surrendered basket at the onset would prove to be the Irish’s only lead of the contest. Cline’s basket sparked a 12-4 run and the Lady Leopards never looked back.

Mabel Kiko and Ezela Manko matched Cline with two points each to round out the Leopards’ scoring.

Carpenter Drops In Team-High 15 for Fighting Irish

Kennedy Carpenter led Ursuline with 15 points, including nine in the second half. Carly Casey also made a pair of three-pointers and scored all nine of her points after halftime.

Other top scorers for the Fighting Irish included Kam Hopkins with six points and Sophia Oravec with three. Marina Belitto and Kenyah Gill each added a basket to round out Ursuline’s scoring.

The Irish have lost three of their last four games and now stand at 6-15 on the season.

Louisville Vs. Youngstown Ursuline Girls Basketball Series

The Leopards are now 2-0 against the Fighting Irish all-time, winning in each of the past two seasons. Louisville won at Youngstown Ursuline 72-42 last year.

The 64 points match the Lady Leopards’ season-high, tying their earlier 64-36 win over Akron Buchtel.
