The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football Team notched their first victory in a 23-6 win over the visiting Poland Bulldogs Thursday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 1-1 on the season.


Leopards Pounce on the Bulldogs, Take 14-0 Lead

Samantha's Grill AdAfter a scoreless first quarter, runningback Camden Dougherty broke the ice with a 4 yard touchdown run to put the Leopards in front 7-0 with 8:23 to go in the second quarter.

Louisville’s special teams produced their next score. Prestin Farmer stormed in and blocked the Bulldogs punt attempt. Jaden Johnson scooped up the ball and returned it 35 yards for another Leopard touchdown to put LHS in front 14-0 with 6:36 to go before halftime.

Colley Field Goal Puts Leps Up By Two Scores

Poland broke up the shutout just before halftime on a 65 yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs botched the snap on the conversion attempt and LHS took a 14-6 lead into halftime as a result.

Louisville added on to their lead in the third quarter when Seth Colley was true on a 25 yard field goal attempt to up their advantage to 17-6. Colley converted both of his earlier extra points to finish with 5 points for the contest.

Gross Preserves Shutout with Goal Line Pick

The Leopards defense did the rest. Defensive back Brayden Gross intercepted a pass on the LHS 3 yard line to preserve Louisville’s second half shutout. 

On the ensuing drive, Dougherty broke loose for a 40 yard run and fellow runningback Kason Graybill followed with a 20 yard run. Graybill sealed the deal for the Leopards with a 7 yard touchdown run with 1:38 to go. The extra point was no good, but Louisville held a commanding 23-6 lead which they would ride to the finish. .   

UP NEXT: The Leopard Freshman will next host the Massillon Tigers on Thursday, September 2. Game time is set for 5:00 PM from Louisville Leopards Stadium.
