Kiko Takes 1st as Lady Leopards Win Sim Earich Invitational – Cross Country
Louisville – 31 (1st Out of 9)
The Louisville Leopards Girls Cross Country Team competed at the Sim Earich Invitational Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The Lady Leopards finished with just 31 total places to take 1st out of 9 competing schools in the Division I-II race.
Louisville Senior Cassidy Kiko won the race individually with a time of 19:42.88. She blazed past the competition and was one of only two runners to finish in under 20 minutes. Hathaway Brown’s Morgan Monesmith was the other taking second place in 19:50.64.
The Lady Leopards finished with 5 runners in the top 10 to dominate the competition. Senior Kayla Gibson (20:24.18) finished in 5th and Senior Emma Patterson (20:24.74) took 6th. Junior Caitlyn Gatta (20:43.90) also came in 9th followed by Sophomore Diana Pukys (20:47.82) in 10th place.
Louisville also had three more runners place in the top 20 individually. They included Chloe Cole (21:36.99) in 15th, Sophia Mackall (21:42.39) in 16th, and Marisa Brown (22:09.93) taking 20th.
Altogether 12 Leopards runners competed at the Sim Earich Invitational. Other participants included Summer Gronow (35th), Nicole Israel (36th), Grace Collins (47th), and Aliya Shine (51st) against a field of 79 runners.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next compete at the Division I District Meet on Saturday, October 19. Division I Girls Race is set to start at 12:30 PM from GlenOak High School.
