Leopards Homer Thrice, Whack Wildcats 10-1 – Softball
Louisville 10, Canton South 1
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team upended the host Canton South Wildcats 10-1 Saturday at Amos McDaniel Elementary School Field. With the victory, Louisville improves to 18-1 overall and pulls into an exact tie for first place in the NBC with West Branch, each with a 9-1 mark in conference play.
Sarah Cantley, Lauren Bennett, and Alex Fankhauser all cleared the fences to help power the Lady Leopards offense. Cantley hit a 2-run homer to center in the third and Bennett opened up the sixth with a solo shot to left. This was the first home run of both players’ Varsity career.
Fankhauser remained red hot at the plate by batting 2-for-4 with a 2-run single in the top of the first and a solo blast to center field to lead-off the seventh. This is the second straight game in which Fankhauser has homered giving her 4 for the year. She has batted 4-for-7 with 3 extra base hits and 6 RBIs in her last three games. Overall Louisville as a team has accumulated 18 round trippers on the season.
Six different Lady Leopards had a multi-hit game as LHS pounded out 15 hits as a team. Sydney McKeever batted 2-for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs, Teagan Rice went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Kaycee Olllis also finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, and Ellie Jackson collected a pair of hits as well.
In the circle, Cantley pitched a complete game giving up just 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 9. Cantley also batted 2-for-4 at the dish with an RBI single in the fifth to go along with her earlier 2-run smash. She is now 14-1 on the season
Canton South was led by Devaul who went 2-for-2 and drove in Zwick in the seventh. Zwick doubled earlier in the inning to setup the Wildcats only run. Dalton also hit a double in the first for the Lady Cats.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Softball Team will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Monday, May 7 at 5:00 PM. The three Louisville Seniors will be honored for Senior Night beforehand.
